I usually carry around my multi tool or a fold-able knife in my pocket, since in comes in handy in my field of work. I believe my foldable knife would be called a single hand manual release and my multi tool is just a Swiss Army tool. I've recently became concerned about whether or not it is legal. Would they be classified as weapons in Canada? The blades are about 4 inches long.
Furthermore, I am not a minor if that makes a difference.

A multi tool is not a prohibited weapon so it is not illegal to carry.
Prohibited weapon as defined by the Criminal Code
"prohibited weapon" means
(a) a knife that has a blade that opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife, or
(b) any weapon, other than a firearm, that is prescribed to be a prohibited weapon;

    Where do you see a knife procession?

    Headed towards the Ginsu Graveyard?

    I bet you're carrying around your tool. But I doubt its the full 4 inches that you claim.

    To make it simple? A knife is a knife until criminal intent comes into play and you intend to commit a crime (or) intend to use it in the commission of an act that would violate the criminal code.

    Such as: You get pulled over by an officer and he asks you about the knife and you reply; So and so jumped me and I'm planning to use this to defend myself. That would be a serious issue.

    A 4" blade isn't a problem, nor is carrying one around. However if you're carrying around a machete in a city, you're going to have a hard time proving you're using it to hack down bush.
